- Gunlogson Nature Preserve: A Little Known Natural Oasis

It has hundreds of species of birds and plants, some of which you can’t find anywhere else in the state. The scenic trails through the dense forest are perfect for relaxing and taking your mind off of things.

City of Kenmare/Facebook Kenmare, North Dakota has everything a good small town should and more. Local sights include an old theater, a toy museum, a recreation of a pioneer town, and a Danish windmill to celebrate the town’s heritage. Not only does it have all this within the town, but it is located in an absolutely gorgeous part of North Dakota with natural views surrounding it.

Rainbow Garden and Sculpture Walk/Facebook Even though North Dakota is more known for being the host of the International Peace Garden, there is a delightful hidden garden in the town of Mayville that you don’t want to miss. Roosevelt Inn/Tripadvisor Our southern counterpart isn’t the only state with a larger-than-life stone bust of Theodore Roosevelt’s head! This huge statue rests at the Roosevelt Inn, a hotel in Watford City, North Dakota, that originally came from a park just outside the famous monument in South Dakota. It was transported all the way up north to its place now and most people don’t even know it’s there.
