The exterior was used during the filming of “The Green Mile,” and the whole of it was designed to mirror the famous prison in Albany, New York. It once housed Old Sparky, Tennessee’s electric chair, and is now home to a bunch of mice and mold. Yech.

It’s a strange thing, to drive by this quiet place with the filled-in pool and huddle of old buildings around it. Closed in the late sixties, you can almost hear the laughter from so many years ago, echoing through the trees.
