Lots of entrepreneurs and computer software professionals moved into the city, followed by marketing and sales professionals, and this changed Fog City dramatically. Since the 1990s, many cities like Austin, Seattle, and more have become tech hubs as well.
- San Francisco is the birthplace of the United Nations

Before the Summer of Love it was the the Human Be-In in Golden Gate Park in January 1967 that popularized hippie culture, leading to the legendary Summer of Love.
- Irish Coffee originated at the Buena Vista Cafe.
Summer Park/Flickr Irish coffee was popularized in Fog City. In 1952, Stanton Delaplane, a travel writer for the San Francisco Chronicle, brought Irish coffee to the United States after drinking it at Shannon Airport in Ireland. At the time, he worked with the Buena Vista cafe, which perfected the delicious drink.
- The bear on the California flag is from Golden Gate Park.

- San Francisco was a pioneering and accepting city long before any other city in the USA.
