The state of New Jersey is definitely making Santa’s nice list this year. Why? We’re wonderful, of course. However, there are some towns that are a bit… questionable. These 10 New Jersey cities and towns might just make Santa’s naughty list.

  1. Trenton

Wikipedia/BD2412 With its mix of crime and politics, Santa might not be very happy with our capital city. However, it does have some wonderful attractions like the Old Barracks Museum and the New Jersey State Museum.

  1. Atlantic City

Flickr/Sort of Natural I absolutely adore New Jersey’s nightlife capital. The food scene is fantastic but the drinking scene is nearly as abundant. With the drinking, party and crime, this is the East Coast’s own Sin City.

  1. Camden

Flickr/Bart E. This riverfront city is home to one of the best aquariums in New Jersey (Adventure Aquarium) AND one of the highest crime rates per capita in the country. However, the murder rate was nearly slashed in half between 2012 and 2014.

  1. Newark

Wikipedia/King Of Hearts The crime rate is high overall and this city tops the nation in car theft. Still, I’d gladly take public transportation in and enjoy the delicious Portuguese food and Newark Museum/Planetarium.

  1. Hoboken

Wikipedia/D Ramey Logan This city is young, hip and so much fun. I adore the dining and shopping, but it has more bars per square mile than most other towns in New Jersey.

  1. Atco

Flickr/Ken Marshall It’s not the crime rate that puts Atco on the naughty list, it’s the number of cheaters. After adultery dating site Ashley Madison was hacked, it was discovered that Atco was the town in New Jersey with the most users.

  1. Jersey City

Wikipedia/w of Jersey City from a Hudson River Sterilgutassistentin This historic city is home to my favorite cemetery/community gathering place (The Historic Jersey City and Harsimus Cemetery) and is safer than most people realize… but it makes the naughty list for its higher rate of drug use.

  1. Belmar

Wikipedia/AlexIsrael This shore neighborhood has quite the party scene in the summer. Belmar is the drunkest town in New Jersey, based on number of bars, liquor stores, alcohol-related posts on social media, and more.

  1. Paterson

Wikipedia/BJT99109 This city makes Santa’s naughty list for it’s high crime rate and number of strip clubs per capita. Still, you won’t want to miss the Great Falls or Lambert Castle.

  1. Irvington

Wikipedia/Jim Henderson The song “Camptown Races” was inspired by Irvington years ago, but today there is a definite crime and drug problem. Property crimes aren’t a major issue but the violent crime rate is much higher than the national average.

What New Jersey towns would you put on the naughty list. What towns have the best shot of being on the nice list? I think Cape May wouldn’t certainly top it.
