Odd, strange, weird, and entertaining – these are perfect words used to describe a Hoosier. In the state of Indiana, you have to be a little strange to fit in with other people. In our Hoosier state, we have no shortage of exciting attractions to enjoy. Here, however, are ten of the strangest ones across the state.

1.) Veal’s Ice Tree

Flickr / Alexandra Stevenson In 1961, the Veal family accidentally created the first ice tree. Since that time, they continue to replenish this ice tree every winter. Some years it stands 80 feet tall! You can find this tree in Acton, Indiana.

2.) Shoe Tree

There also happens to be a second shoe tree located in Milltown, Indiana. The original tree was sadly struck by lightning, but it didn’t take long for the shoes to spread to the other trees.

Jalopnik In 1937, trees were planted to spell out the word Studebaker. Today, you can still see these trees in South Bend. Keep in mind, you have to go pretty high up in the sky to see the word!
