Wikimedia Commons While it may look like something you would find in Europe, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is actually the seat of the Diocese of Wichita that is also the city’s oldest Catholic Church (constructed in 1872).

The Cawker City Hesperian Historical Society Situated inside the Cawker City United Methodist Church is the state’s oldest church organ: an incredible Henry Pilcher’s Sons masterpiece built in 1886 in Louisville, Kentucky. Sunday mass time is 8:30 am. The Adoration Chapel is open from 8 pm Sun. to 6 am Wed.”

The round window behind the chapel’s front altar was intentionally installed slightly askew by an inmate who was angry at his work boss. This chapel has brass cannon imbedded in the walls at the sides of the church, and photos of many of the officers involved in the early history of the fort, including some of the Custer family.”
