Sometimes you want to hit the trails and explore, but you’re not looking for anything strenuous or super time consuming. We get it. We’ve found some super awesome trails you’re bound to love that are 2 miles or less, so you’ll be able to enjoy nature while still not taking up a huge chunk of your day.

  1. Barataria Preserve

Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve/Facebook There’s a few trails that are two miles or less over at the Jean Lafitte National Historic Park and Preserve. If you take the Bayou Coquille Trail (.5 miles) it will lead you to the Marsh Overlook Trail (.4) miles and you’ll have this beautiful view pictured above.   1. Valentine Lake Nature Trail

Daniel Hebert/All Trails Located in Boyce, Louisiana, this trail is 1.8 miles and is great for hiking, walking, trail running, and bird watching. The trail breaks away to the north to make a complete 3.4 mile loop if you’re into it! Valentine Lake Loop Trail, Boyce, LA 71409.

  1. Red River Orange Trail

Lindsay Attaway/ All Trails Located near Bossier City, the Red River Orange Trail is 1.7 miles that features a lake and is great for every skill level. Dogs are permitted, just remember they must be kept on a leash. Located at 150 Eagle Bend Point, Bossier City, LA 71112.

  1. Louisiana State Arboretum

Louisiana State Arboretum/Facebook All five of the trails at the arboretum are less than two miles, and each one is just as beautiful as the next. The trails are well marked and have signs up that’ll explain more about the flora and fauna you’re surrounded by. Great for kids! Located at 1300 Sudie Lawton Lane, Ville Platte, LA 70586.

  1. Chemin-A-Haut State Park

Chemin-A-Haut State Park/Facebook Two trails are perfect at this state park. The Bobcat Trail is 1.1 miles, and the Boy Scout trail clocks in ¼ a mile. And this absolutely perfect sunrise view is a great reason to wake up early to see it. Located at 14656 State Park Road, Bastrop, LA 71220.

  1. The Dogwood Trail

Toledo-bend.com The Dogwood Trail is a 1.5 mile nature trail in North Toledo Bend State Park. Stoll through the rolling hills of the majestic pine trees and don’t forget your fishing pole! Toledo Bend boasts some of the best fishing around. Located at 2907 North Toledo Park Road Zwolle, LA 71486.

  1. Bayou Segnette State Park

Bayou Segnette State Park/Facebook Bayou Segnette State Park has a lovely little one mile trail that’s easy enough for even the beginner nature walker. Located at 7777 Westbank Expressway Westwego, LA 70094.

  1. Hardwood Forest Loop Trail

  1. Hodges Gardens State Park

Hodges Gardens State Park/Facebook There are three short trails that fit under our 2 mile rule: Longleaf Pine Stump Hiking Trail is 1 mile and both the Wild Azalea Hiking Trail and the Spring Cove Hiking Trail are half a mile long. There also two longer (6+miles) trails if you’re up for the challenge! Located at 1000 Hodges Loop, Florien, LA 71429.

Kelly King/All Trails This beautiful trail is about 1.5 miles and is located in the Sam Houston Jones State Park. There are several other trails, most of them ranging from one mile to 3.5 miles. All of them have beautiful views and will lead you on a wonderful exploration through the park. Located at 107 Sutherland Road, Lake Charles, LA 70611.

Al Gallia/All Trails This trail is less than a mile and offers beautiful views of all the wonderful Palmetto plants. The trail is located in the Palmetto Island State Park and offers views of the Vermillion River. Located at 19501 Pleasant Road, Abbeville, LA 70510.
