We really, really hope that most, if not all, Americans can identify Delaware on a map. But, as I’m sure some of our readers know, that’s not always the case.  We found these (ahem) alternative maps of the state that are good for a chuckle.

  1. The obvious map / aka the “Not a Delawarean” map

iliketolearn.com Unfortunately, all Delawareans should have one of these at the ready to explain to non-natives that we’re not a) a town in Ohio or b) a county in Pennsylvania.

  1. Things we don’t excel at

Flickr Technically we DO have a national park made up of historic sites throughout the state. But, its definitely a stretch compared to parks like the Everglades or Yellowstone. And whoa, looking at some of the other states, we made out ok.

  1. Google autocomplete results

FlipCollective.com Womp, womp. Why is Delaware so boring? Someone needs to show them the Only In Delaware site for the inside scoop!

  1. A subjective map of Delaware

Reddit The person who created this map admitted to being from the northern part of the state, hence the misspelling of Lewes, and the inclusion of some areas in LSD (lower, slower Delaware).

  1. Animal population density

Vox That’s a lot of chickens in Delaware. Who knew Hawaii had so many cows?!

  1. Delaware on a dish towel map

Cat Studio You’ve probably given this to an out-of-state relative at some point.

  1. The stereotype map

Alpha Designer Even though the state’s too small to put the word on it (see 4. on this map) mad scientists rule! Muahahah! Thank you DuPont, Gore, Astra Zeneca, etc.

  1. The postcard map

AllPosterImages.com If you’ve lived in Delaware for any period of time, you’ve more than likely seen this postcard that boasts of Delaware’s popular landmarks and products per region.

  1. Mapping missed connections

Dorothy Gambrielle The missed connections feed on Craigslist in Delaware shows the most missed connections in….convenience stores? Maybe it’s a Wawa thing. Head over to find a lonely heart.

  1. The movie map

Laughing Squid Thank you Wayne and Garth for making that random reference to “Dela-where” in Wayne’s World back in the 90s. It stuck.

  1. What each state googles most

Estately Delaware. Yep. Delawareans google the word Delaware a LOT. We know we’re awesome. Let’s keep googling ourselves!

Which is your favorite?
