If you’re living in San Francisco, you already know you live in the one of the most well known and appreciated cities in the world. The mix of seafood, Mexican, and Mediterranean influences, all with fresh produce is what we all know as California cuisine. Chez Panisse was opened in 1971 by Alice Waters.

In 1952, Stanton Delaplane, a travel writer for the San Francisco Chronicle, brought Irish coffee to the United States after drinking it at Shannon Airport in Ireland.
