Ahhh, winter in Missouri. It may be the time of year when the weather is most unpredictable. You might have a nice sunny day, rain, ice, snow or sleet, or anything in between. We know it’s coming, and here are a few thoughts that often come to mind this time of year.

  1. I can’t wait to wear those great boots (coat, hat, sweater, etc.) I bought on sale last May!

Flickr/ C_osett You can get some great deals on winter-wear in the spring, but the problem is, you have to wait to be able to wear it. It’s always a little exciting to finally pull it out of the closet.

  1. Christmas will be here before I know it. Will I be ready?

Flickr/ Matt Even though the stores start promoting it sometime after Halloween, it seems to always sneak up on us anyway.

  1. I can’t wait for the first snow…

Flickr/ Moose Winans There is something crisp, new and refreshing about the first snow of the year. However, this quickly turns into…

  1. …I really wish I didn’t have to drive in this.

  1. I’ll have to start getting up earlier in the morning to start the car, and maybe scrape the windows.

Pixabay You never quite know what morning will bring, so it’s best to set that alarm a few minutes earlier…just in case.

  1. Where can I get some cheap firewood? I can’t wait to have a fire in the fireplace (or fire pit).

Flickr/ Wicker Paradise There’s nothing like snuggling up by a fire on a cold winter night.

  1. Where did I put that snow shovel? Oh, wait! Didn’t we break it last year?

Flickr/ Joe Loong Better locate that shovel before the snow starts!

  1. Hot beverages are no longer optional, but necessary.

  1. I’m going to hold out on turning on the furnace as long as possible.

(In my house, it’s not abnormal for me to be wearing a hat, fingerless gloves and multiple layers!)

  1. Let’s drag ALL the blankets out of the closet

  1. It’s too late to start my diet now. Better wait until after the holidays.
