- Atchafalaya National Wildlife Refuge, Lottie, LA

Established in 1984, these 15,000 acres are a part of the largest bottomland hardwood swamp in the country. The true prize here is the amazing wildlife–almost everything that Louisiana has to offer can be found here. To get there, take the exit from I-10 to Hwy 975 N. The entrance is about nine miles down the gravel road.
