Missouri is an amazing state to call home, but let’s face it: it’s not for everyone. Not every person is well-equipped to handle what Missouri throws at its citizens, nor does everyone have the basic living skills to live here (a love of sports and BBQ are just two examples). Are you a true Missourian? While you don’t necessarily need to show all of them, you should exhibit most of these 12 signs that you definitely belong in Missouri.
- You know all the cool places in the state that aren’t St. Louis or Kansas City.
John Lillis/flickr Sure, both cities are full of amazing things to see and do…but there’s so much else in the state, too.
- You love your cake full of butter.
annie/flickr Gooey butter cake is the only kind of cake that matters, really.
- You realize the importance of baseball.
Brian Bennett/flickr With two major league teams (Go Cardinals and Royals!) and the epic Missouri Tigers all playing here, you learn to love baseball early.
- And you’re loud and proud.
Barbara Ann Spengler/flickr Missourians know the importance of cheering LOUD at our sports events. The Kansas City Chiefs fans broke a world record with their decibel level…and Missouri fans of all sports constantly try to break that record.
- You know how to pronounce our state’s name.
J. Stephen Conn/flickr It’s missour-ee AND missour-uh.
- You love your ends burnt.
stu_spivak/flickr If we have to explain to you that they’re burnt ON PURPOSE, you don’t belong here.
- You think those microbrews are fine, but the REAL beer is a Bud.
Jeramey Jannene/flickr Anheuser Busch has your undying loyalty.
- The weather doesn’t faze you.
maiaelise/flickr Sure, it was 90 degrees and sunny yesterday and today it’s 50 degrees and raining. Your closet is always ready with a warm down coat, a rain slicker and a bikini.
- When tornado warnings are in effect, you don’t hide…you throw a party.
Vincent Parsons/flickr Because what better place to enjoy a tornado than from your back deck?
- You know how to work.
Paul Sableman/flickr Missourians work hard and take pride in a job well done.
- But you also know how to party.
Lake of the Ozarks/Facebook Because life isn’t ALL about work, right?
- You know how to present a well-reasoned argument.
