Have you ever thought about moving to Alaska? Do you wonder if you could make it up here in the dark and snow? Alaska is definitely not for everyone, but I will tell you one thing that seems to be pretty common for a lot of people; when you get off the plane and spend a week in Alaska you will either love it or hate it. There’s no in between. People tend to know right away if they belong or not, but if you don’t want to base it off of your gut, here are some other surefire signs you belong in Alaska.
- You love beer and espresso.
Jessica Spengler | Flickr I know beer and espresso are big in other parts of the Pacific Northwest, but trust me, up here it’s better.
- You love snow in the winter and don’t mind rain in the summer.
JLS Photography - Alaska | Flickr Unfortunately, many of the cities experience a lot of rain in the summer, but you do learn to love it!
- You hike nonstop.
David Pastyka | Flickr You will never run out of hikes here.
- You love dogs more than you love people.
bullcitydogs | Flickr I’d say Alaska is a very pet-friendly state.
- You like your space.
Nicholas D. | Flickr With all the room up here, I’d say you have to be okay with a couple degrees of separation outside the city.
- You welcome everyone for who they are and truly love life.
Ian D. Keating | Flickr Didn’t you know… Alaskans are more satisfied with their lives than residents of any other state. Can you blame us? It’s so awesome here.
- You aren’t a big sports fanatic.
John Pennell | Flickr Maybe you root for your team back home but in Alaska we don’t really have any big teams to root for.
- You aren’t worried about fashion trends.
Troy B. Thompson | Flickr All too often you see last years trend being sported around downtown in the summer… sure they bought all those things when they were in style but had to wait for the snow to melt to wear those heels!
- You’re addicted to nature photography.
Joseph | Flickr If you don’t have a camera when you get here, you will before you leave.
- You’re always up for an adventure.
Thank you for visiting my page | Flickr Living in Alaska is a constant adventure with endless things to do. From camping on a frozen river to kayaking wild lakes.
- You crave getting away from it all.
Boris Kasimov | Flickr Alaska is the Last Frontier for a reason.
- You love to hunt and fish.
Flickr/Joseph There is a lot of both up here.
What else would you add to this list? Let me know in the comments.
