Okay, fellow Pennsylvanians, we all share some commonalities, no matter where in the state we live, right? And, among those commonalities are the things a self-respecting Pennsylvanian would never do. Here are just 12 of those things. See if you agree.

  1. Drive the speed limit.

Flickr/Larry C’mon, admit it. It’s the rare Pennsylvanian who drives the speed limit, especially on the turnpike. After all, we have to keep up with the traffic, right?

  1. Complain about the weather.

Flickr/Corky Wirral Sure, PA’s weather can be a pain when it comes to deciding what to wear for the day. But, we’ve all pretty much realized there’s not much point in complaining since, if we wait long enough, the weather will change in a few hours.

  1. Turn our backs on someone in need.

Flickr/Paul Taylor Pennsylvanians are kind-hearted people. When we see someone who needs help, we step up.

  1. Root for the Cowboys, if you’re an Eagles fan or…

Flickr/Adam Simmons That’s pretty self-explanatory.

  1. Cheer for the Browns or the Ravens, if you’re a Steelers fan.

Flickr/Keith Allison As is this one, right?

  1. Brag about our roads.

Flickr/Doug Kerr It’s tough to brag when you live in the Pothole State.

  1. Lament there’s nothing to do in PA.

Flickr/Nicholas A. Tonelli Pennsylvanians are pretty lucky there’s so much to do - both indoors and outdoors - in all corners of the state. The only way to get bored is to not try to find something to do.

  1. Say no to a Whoopie Pie.

Flickr/k.segars Who can say no to a Whoppie Pie? Or Utz? Or Peeps? PA’s undoubtedly the snack capital of the U.S. , so we’re pretty much obligated to say yes to our favorite snacks. Aren’t we?

  1. Cheer the annual increase in turnpike rates and…

Flickr/Mark Danielson An increase in PA Turnpike rates might not be so harsh if they weren’t guaranteed for decades. That’s right. We Pennsylvanians can expect an annual six percent increase in turnpike tolls through at least 2044.

  1. High gasoline tax.

Flickr/Unbleached Brun You’ll never hear a Pennsylvanian approve of our gasoline tax - at 58 cents per gallon - which just happens to be the highest in the United States, even beating out California and New York.

  1. Call our state Pennsylvania.

Flickr/Noe Alfaro Okay, well, self-respecting Pennsylvanians may call it Pennsylvania from time to time. But, the majority of the time, we refer to our beloved state as PA.

  1. Leave Pennsylvania and never return.

Flickr/Via Tsuji Some Pennsylvanians are born in PA, live their whole lives here, and die here. Others grow up here and eventually move away, only to return down the line. Others leave permanently. The one thing we all have in common? We always come back, even if only for a visit.

What else would no other self-respecting Pennsylvanian do? And, if you’ve moved away from Pennsylvania, here are 17 things you’ve probably thought at least one.
