If you’ve been a long time resident of New York then you know that there’s an endless list of reasons why you’ll love living here. But on the other hand, New Yorkers also know that sometimes everything isn’t so peachy and we can find ourselves shaking our fists at the Empire State. While we do our best to keep such a strong word like hate from making its way into our vocabulary, there’s certain things that you can’t help but get angry over if you’re from here.
- Having to clear off our car and shovel out our driveways after we get any kind of snow.

While over the years the internet has shown us neat little tricks like taking a leaf blower to your car to get the job done quicker, the entire event of having to clear off your vehicle is just an annoying hassle. Let’s all take a moment to be thankful for any time we’ve walked out to our car to find that a Snow Angel (AKA kind neighbor) has cleared off our car for us.
- Dealing with people who don’t know how to drive during winter.

While it’s always important to be cautious, there’s some fools you’ll find out on the road that should’ve just stayed home. And please… don’t forget your snow tires!
- New York City. Period.

Between stealing the spotlight from other amazing areas in our state to plaguing the rest of the world into believing that anytime someone says they’re from New York that we mean New York City, there’s a bit of undeniable hate that lives inside all of us.
- When we hear people from Downstate New York tell others that they live Upstate.
Wikimedia Commons Dear Westchester County, you do not live in Upstate New York. A title that a large majority of our residents fight over, those who actually live in Upstate New York know who they are.
- Dealing with insane city drivers.
Prayitno / Thank you for (12 millions +) view/Flickr Personally, I can’t take a cab ride in Manhattan without keeping my eyes glued to the floor. The entire experience feels like a maniacal roller coaster to me. How any of these drivers manage to not actually crash their cars is a total mystery.
- And on the other end of the spectrum, we get a bit frustrated at the sloth-like speeds our small town drivers can move at.

- Taxes. PERIOD.

- The effect road salt has on our cars.

- Feeling joy that winter is over, only to realize that construction season has arrived.

- Summer never being long enough.
