I’m always searching for something exciting and creative to do here in the Lone Star State, and I know I’m probably not the only one. Luckily, I decided to come up with this list of fresh new ideas for fun activities to do, especially with summer now here. Hope this will encourage you to try out some of these lesser-known activities here in Texas!
- Ride in a hot air balloon!
David Ingram/Flickr There’s multiple places to do this fun activity throughout the state, so just utilize Google’s resources to find one near you!
- Paddleboarding!
Reno Tahoe/Flickr I have done this on Lady Bird Lake in Austin, and now I can’t wait to go back and do it again! And it’s really not as hard as it looks, trust me.
- Skydiving!
aJ Gazmen/Flickr Just like with hot air balloon rides, you can find a couple handfuls of places throughout the state to jump out of airplane at 3,000 ft, so if that’s your thing, you’re in luck!
- Parasailing!
Lori Greig/Flickr I’ve always wanted to try this, and South Padre Island looks like a beautiful place to give it a whirl!
- How about flyboarding?!
Guillaume P. Boppe/Flickr Jetpack meets water = this amazing new sport known as flyboarding. I know I’m down to try it! One place that I know of for sure that offers it is a company called Texas Flyboard Rentals, so check them out for more info!
- Drive or ride in a racecar at the Texas Motor Speedway!
John Rogers/Flickr This is every car enthusiast’s dream come true!
- Go on an Austin Eats Food Tour!
Laura Taylor/Flickr Enjoy some local eats with some new peeps when you sign up for one of these unique food tours in Austin. You’ll get to sample 4 or 5 local eateries, so come hungry!
- Map out a tour of the painted churches!
Keith Ewing/Flickr There’s more than 20 of these ornate churches throughout Texas, so it might take a while. But, it’s always worth it to tour just one if you can to enjoy the immense beauty of these historic churches.
- Visit one of the lavender farms to tour the beautiful gardens and even cut your own lavender!
