Am I the only one who loves to poke around creepy and abandoned places just to see if there are any ghosts hanging around? That may be a “yes”, but I certainly don’t think so. So, here are 13 creepy houses in South Carolina that could be haunted. I don’t know if they are or not, but they definitely look the part.

2.

Henry de Saussure Copeland/Flickr This is not too far from where I grew up actually. These places always carry an air of mystery about them.

3.

Hunter Desportes/Flickr You see these kinds of places a lot too. They’re the ones that are forgotten and left for whatever comes along. It’s the vacancy in the windows that gives you that chill.

7.

Robert S. Donovan/Flickr It’s just creepy. There’s no other way to explain it or “pretty it up” for you. A house standing in a grove of trees shrouded in mist equals “run and don’t look back”!

8.

PROKari/Flickr You could tell this one was taken in Charleston couldn’t you? There’s something about the homes there, but I suppose if you had seen all that these homes have seen, then you’d be kind of creepy too.

9.

10.

Hunter Desportes/Flickr This house reminds me of Amityville Horror even though it’s not shaped the same way. I think it’s the windows on the third floor that does it for me. This house is in Columbia and was once used as a Funeral Home.

12.

Dennis Church/Flickr Even when the sun shines on this home it still feels as if the heat doesn’t permeate those boards. They look forever cold and desolate.

13.

Blake Lewis/Flickr Oh, I would love to explore this house. It’s the perfect combination of: Broken/vacant windows, weathered boards, and huge old trees.

It can be very fun to go prowling around old abandoned houses however, it’s not always safe. You should ALWAYS see if you need permission as well. The last thing you want to do is go to jail or get shot for trespassing. Otherwise, never go by yourself. It’s just a safety precaution in case something happens and you need help.
