Before that short South Carolina spring slips into the lazy days of summer, let’s get outside and explore this great state. Here are 13 great ways to turn up the explorer instinct in anyone. Have fun!
- Head over to the beach to look for great shells.

- Go say hello to the oldest living Oak tree on the East Coast.

- Hike a passage of the Palmetto Trail
Flickr/myke The Palmetto Trail, when complete, will be one of 16 cross-state trails in the US. At the moment, 350 miles of the projected 500 are finished in “passages” that range from 1.3 to 47 miles. Of course, you don’t have to hike your passage from end-to-end. Just go as far as you want and hike back the way you came. Here’s a link to all the passages currently open.
- Go chase lighthouses.

- Take a walk in the tree tops.
Lynches River Park Over in Coward, SC the Lynches River County Park has a canopy walk you’ll never forget. We featured it here recently.
- Visit Fenway Park without leaving South Carolina.
