Spring will be here in just a week and warmer weather is on the way. I absolutely cannot wait to get outside and enjoy all the beauty New Jersey has to offer. We can head out and hike, bike, boat, and best of all, dine. Outdoor dining is one of my favorite things, and I’m not just talking about picnics. New Jersey has some incredible options when it comes to rooftop dining, many of which offer scenic views of our stunning shoreline.
- Daddy O, Brant Beach
Tripadvisor/Management Daddy O is a full service restaurant, rooftop bar, and boutique hotel. The rooftop bar not only offers drinks, but serves light fare. It was recently named one of the top 10 rooftop bars in the United States by The Daily Meal. During the summer, it’s a great sushi spot.
- Ventura’s Greenhouse, Margate City
Image/Ventura’s Greenhouse Enjoy food, drinks, and a great view of Lucy the Elephant, not to mention sweeping panoramas of the Atlantic Ocean.
- Boardwalk Bar And Grill, Point Pleasant
Facebook/Boardwalk Bar & Grill Located on Jenkinson’s Boardwalk, this is the perfect place to people watch in Point Pleasant.
- Above Restaurant & Bar, South Orange
Facebook/Above Restaurant & Bar This unique restaurant serves multinational cuisine from Spanish paella to sushi. You’ll find two rooftop dining areas along with a main dining room and bar.
- Chill, Stone Harbor
Facebook/Chill This rooftop grill focuses on fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
- Reef & Barrel, Manasquan
Facebook/Reef & Barrel Formerly the famous Edgar’s Pub, Reef & Barrel recently opened a rooftop dining area. The scene is spectacular but the rooftop menu is limited.
- The Deck at Holly Beach, Wildwood

- Skinner’s Loft, Jersey City
Image/Skinner’s Loft This Jersey City spot has a great vibe and is known to draw big crowds, especially on summer weekends.
- Watermark, Asbury Park
Facebook/Watermark Asbury Park This popular spot describes itself as follows: “Part sophisticated drinkery and tapas bar, part music lounge and social club.” The contemporary hangout offers breathtaking ocean views.
- Harry’s, Cape May

- City Bistro, Hoboken
Facebook/City Bistro Offering a relaxed atmosphere and New York City views, this bistro has been in business for over 15 years.
- The Manor, West Orange
Facebook/The Manor This swanky spot does more than just special events. Enjoy drinks and dancing in the enclosed dome on weekends, along with a seasonal outdoor lounge and a delectable bar menu.
- Chelsea Hotel, Atlantic City
Facebook/Chelsea Hotel Technically this is a rooftop pool, but here’s something you may not know - if you score a private cabana, you can order from the full menu of Dining on 5th.
Are you ready for food with a view? These outdoor dining spots are all opening up for the season, so check them out. While they’re not all full service restaurants, they’re great places to get your food fix while enjoying elevated atmospheres. Share your favorite rooftop dining spots, especially if they’re on the western side of the state – it seems most of New Jersey’s rooftop restaurants are located near New York City or the Jersey Shore.
