With Thanksgiving drawing near, Fall is beginning to pack its bags as winter creeps in. The transition can be spotted in frost-covered grass in the early morning, a windy chill during the peak of the day – oh, and the fact it is pitch black at 5PM. As the seasons slowly shift and opposing weather mingles, North Carolina is displaying a unique kind of beauty. I don’t know about you, but I’ve witnessed the most beautiful sunsets this past week. Something about this time of year just sets the sky on fire.

Luckily, we have so many talented photographers in North Carolina who have captured the beauty of this transition perfectly. I absolutely love this week’s pictures. The vivid colors, the sunrises, sunsets, and beautiful scenery. Enjoy!

  1. Sunday sunset.

  1. Golden reflections.

Susan Yerry “Tide pool made by a super high tide only added to the beauty of Holden Beach NC.” - Susan Yerry

  1. The most gorgeous colors.

Matthew Molt “This was from McCotters Marina in Washington, NC a few day days ago. The orange glow blends into the red sky mixed with the nice reflection made for a beautiful photograph. " - Matthew Molt

  1. “Into the Fog.”

Southern-Imagery Fine Art “With the onslaught of cooler temps and rain comes fog and that makes for a challenge when it comes to photography. Living where I do I decided to make a late day run to south mountain and see what I could come up with. This shot has been produced by a few of us but the addition of the fog gives it a totally different look.” -Southern-Imagery fine art.

  1. “Fall Into Color.”

Carey Plemmons Photography “This year’s fall colors were everything I hoped it would be. We first started camping in the Linville Falls area and quickly realized we were a few days past peak. Our friend and fellow photographer, Nic Powell, told us the color was peaking in the Brevard/Cashiers area so we packed up and started chasing the color down south. Boy was Nic right! Captured this scene one evening as the sun was setting. The rules of photography state you shouldn’t put your horizon in the middle of a shot, but I think being a rule breaker here works because those reflections are what inspired me to compose this shot in the first place.” - Carey Plemmons

  1. In danger of being lost.

Jackie Frick Smith “Save the Swift Island Bridge crossing Lake Tillery connecting Montgomery County NC and Visit Stanly County” - Jackie Frick Smith

8.“Dawning over Burke”

Danny Richard Buxton “October sunrise over Burke County and the foothills around the Catawba River valley through Morganton, North Carolina. A dynamic start to western NC as fall colors continued to migrate down slope and spread into the Piedmont areas. The lower mountain in the distance, to the right of the sun peaking over the horizon and beneath the clouds is where I call home at the base of Mineral Spring Mountain in Valdese, NC. A memorable morning hiking to this spot in Linville Gorge during the predawn darkness, not sure what the sunrise would hold for this photographer, but I was blessed with another beauty…” -Danny Richard Buxton.

  1. “Foggy Crossing, Blue Ridge Parkway.”

Anthony Heflin Photography “Morning fog and fall colors along the Mountains to Sea trail in Western North Carolina. I hope you all enjoy it.

How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog–it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. James 4:14” - Anthony Heflin Photography

  1. Fire in the sky.

Matt Williams Photography “I took this on Christmas morning a few years ago and it is still one of my favorites. Taken near Figure Eight Island just outside of Wilmington NC.” - Matt Williams

  1. Autumn Beauty.

Kelly Nowak Photography “Managed to grab some shots of this Monarch Butterfly before some rain showers came through last Friday..” -Kelly Nowak

  1. Rushing waters.

Eugene’s Carolina Reflections “Here is a recent image from Maggie Valley showing our North Carolina mountains in the fullest of her fall splendor.” - Eugene’s Carolina Reflections.

  1. Cotton candy skies.
