Sometimes the best things come in small packages, and this is certainly true when it comes to the state of Vermont. That’s right, we might be small, but we sure have a lot to brag about! Here are a few things that everyone should know about VT before they make any judgments.
- We have the best foliage in the world.
Flickr/Stanley Zimney It’s no surprise that people travel from all over the world to check it out.
- If you’re going to ski the east, Vermont has the best resorts.
Flickr/Peter Dutton The skiing here is awesome. Pure and simple.
- There are mountains for days.
Flickr/Zdenek Svoboda Nothing is quite like gazing out at the mountain views, and Vermont has stunning vistas all over.
- Hiking? You got it!
Flickr/Scott McCracken Check out our article about The Long Trail which you can do in parts, or for the daring, all in one long hike.
- Guaranteed clean highways.
Flickr/Doug Kerr You won’t find any billboards polluting our scenery. They’re illegal.
- Even better country roads.
Flickr/Matthew Paulson Take the long road home… or the road to nowhere. Either (and both) will be awesome.
- Our covered bridges are better than yours.
Flickr/Daniel Mennerich Vermont has just over 100 authentic covered bridges, giving it the highest number of covered bridges per square mile in the United States.
- The people are friendly.
Flickr/Kman999 Actually, everyone is friendly. Including the animals.
- Vermont is one of the safest places in the USA.
Flickr/Jason Meredith Relax and take it all in… You’re safe here.
- We have a pet friendly state.
Flickr/gomagoti Our favorite four legged friends are a part of the family. Naturally, a birthday party will take place.
- It’s also one of the happiest.
Flickr/Mity We love our way of life.
- We don’t need big, generic box stores.
Flickr/Mike Mozart Everything we need can be found at our local country stores. Big shops? Don’t need em!
- Food doesn’t get much fresher.
Flickr/Brian Talbot Farm to table dining is the way to go.
- Got milk?
Flickr/jpellgen Yes, the postcards don’t lie. You can see cows all over our beautiful countryside. We have more cows per capita than any other state
- Got Beer?
Flickr/danaspencer Yup, we’ve got that too! We also have more breweries per capita than any other state. Read about Heady Topper, which has been rated one of the best in the world.
- We’ve made some of the best things in the world.
Flickr/Travis Hightower Imaging If you’ve ever snowboarded, you know that it al started here.
- We don’t need to do anything fancy in the summer.
Flickr/dvs Our natural swimming holes are cool in every sense of the word.
- Lastly, we want to tell the world:
Flickr/Ann Forget everything we just said. We like keeping Vermont to ourselves!
While we’re not ones to brag often, we’d like to add that Vermont is number on at all of these things.
