Princeton University beat out Harvard and Yale, ranking as the top college in America by U.S. News and World Report. Rutgers Business School is ranked the third best business school in the U.S. (based on MBA employment rates), TCNJ is one of America’s top 20 “best value” colleges (most likely to pay off financially) and Stevens Institute of Technology was ranked third nationally for career placement.

Districts who ranked highly include Millburn, West Windsor-Plainsboro, Montgomery Township, the Chathams, Summit, Ridgewood, Livingston, New Providence, Mountain Lakes and Pascack Valley (among others). As far as elementary schools go, Bay Head Elementary was ranked #4 in the nation, but this article is about our high schools.

The six New Jersey schools on the list were: High Technology High School (Lincroft), Middlesex County Academy for Science, Technology and Engineering (Edison), Union County Magnet High School (Scotch Plains), Bergen County Academies (Hackensack), Academy for Mathmatics, Science and Engineering (Rockaway) and the Academy of Allied Health and Science (Neptune). All schools had graduation rates of 100%, with 100% of graduates going on to attend college.

Three New Jersey high schools ranked among the top 10, seven schools made the top 20, and 51 schools made the top 500. Our state has a whopping 10% of the country’s best high schools. The rankings were based on state test scores, SAT and ACT exams, AP test scores, graduation rate and several other factors. This year’s schools to make Newsweek’s top 10 are: The Academy for Math, Science, and Engineering (#2), Union County Magnet High School (#4) and the Academy for Science, Mathematics and Engineering Technologies (#10).
