Islands in such a landlocked state as Wyoming? Why, yes, Wyoming actually has around 31 named islands with most of them in Jackson Lake and Yellowstone Lake. Here are some islands worth exploring while you are out in the canoe, kayak, or even boating, however, only two lakes in Wyoming allow motor boats.

Arizona Island is located in the area of Colter Bay. Elk Island is located right in the middle of Jackson Lake. It can be reached via breakfast or dinner cruise or by canoe or kayak. The island has two campsites that require a permit. Dollar Island sits to the east of Elk Island. Badger Island is halfway between Dollar Island and Half Moon Bay. Sheffield Island is just to the north of Badger Island. Cow Island is in the Colter Bay region. Donoho Point is in the southeast end of Jackson Lake. Grassy Island is located in the Moran Bay area. Indian Island is located in the eastern section of Jackson Lake right out from Arizona Island. Marie Island is located in the southern end of Jackson Lake. Finally, Moose Island is located in the midwestern section of Jackson Lake. Jackson Lake has a lot of islands, mostly small, dotted throughout the lake with Elk Island being the largest island in the state of Wyoming.

Peale Island is located in the southern tip of the South Arm section of Yellowstone Lake. Pelican Roost is located in the northeastern section of the lake and Stevenson Island is located in the northwestern section of the lake.

Freezeout Island and Telephone Island are located in Lombard Buttes in Sweetwater County in the Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge. Long Island and Tarters Island are located in the Milleson Draw area of Sublette County. Willow Island is located in the Sublette County section of Green River.
