Considering that Delaware is on the complete opposite coast from L.A. and Hollywood, but still within a few hours drive from New York City, our celebrity spotting tends to be limited to concerts and special events. But some of the things locals love about the state, like our beaches, do cause some famous faces to pop up around town.

Here are some places in five areas of the state, where you can best try your luck at a selfie with a celeb.

  1. The Beaches (usually Rehoboth and/or Dewey)

World Cafe Life at the Queen The up and comer in the crowd, World Cafe Live at the Queen opened in 2011, after renovations to the original structure. This intimate space has great food and great spaces for music. This will surely start to grow as a place to see celebs, beyond those who perform on stage.

The Playhouse Theater / Facebook The Playhouse Theater on Rodney Square is located in the Hotel DuPont, and both are great places in Wilmington for celebrity sightings. Catch a concert or a show with famous stars, or catch a famous star coming to see a show.

Desserts by Dana / Facebook Newark is home to Chef Dana Herbert, winner of the Food Network’s Season One of the Next Cake Boss.

University of Delaware / Facebook The University of Delaware’s Bob Carpenter Center hosts events not just for students, but for the public as well, from Walk the Moon to Elton John to Sesame Street.

University of Delaware / Facebook Drop by a University of Delaware basketball or a football game to spot a famous Blue Hen, like Elena Delledonne, VP Joe Biden, or Joe Flacco.

  1. Dover

Spam / Flickr Dover Downs Hotel and Casino is the epicenter for celebrity sightings in the state capitol, from concerts and comedy acts at the hotel to music festivals and NASCAR.

Dover International Speedway / Facebook Dover International Speedway hosts two main NASCAR weekends a year, drawing not just celebrity drivers, but other VIP NASCAR fans, retired drivers and supporting musical acts.

Sir Paul McCartney was the headliner in 2015, and others have included Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Foo Fighters. We can’t keep Dave Grohl from loving this place!

Delaware State Fair / Facebook Harrington?! Yes. But only during the last few weeks in July when the Delaware State Fair is in full swing.
