But you may not know that there are a few hidden beaches not that far from DC that are incredible! Make a trip to one of these lesser known beaches near DC this summer.

There’s half a mile of beautiful sand, a 200-foot fishing pier, a playground, beach volleyball court shaded areas, picnic tables and grills. You can also camp nearby!

Yelp/Douglas D. This beach is perfect for dog lovers! Located on Kent Island in Queen Anne’s County, there is actually a designated dog beach here. You can picnic, relax on the people-only beach or walk your pup on the pet trail. Parking is $10 per vehicle.

You can rent umbrellas, kayaks or bikes during your visit. The town also hosts many summertime activities including movie nights and concerts.
