Natural wonders are always inspiring.  But Connecticut offers one of the coolest combinations when it comes to the type of wonders we have.  People often think of popular vacation states when it comes to beauty, but Connecticut is definitely a sight to behold. Practically a hidden gem, the Constitution state boasts a lot of untouched land.  Which means uninterrupted beauty!

  1. Bluff Point State Park, Groton

CJ Oliver/Flickr This untouched peninsula offers over 800 acres off the Long Island Sound for your enjoyment! Hike, bike, fish or lounge and enjoy the stunning sights of the trails, beach, and forest.

  1. Dinosaur Tracks, Rocky Hill

Daderot/Wikipedia Located inside the Dinosaur State Park and Arboretum, these tracks are part of one of the largest dinosaur track sites in North America! It doesn’t get any more natural and wonderful than dinosaur footprints.

  1. Thimble Islands, Branford

phoca2004/Flickr This archipelago consisting of roughly 100 small islands has few inhabitants. Most of the islands are home to wildlife alone. Take a cruise here and learn the stories behind some of the island’s names, like the ones named Potato and Mother-In-Law.

  1. Cathedral Pines, Cornwall

Dmadeo/Wikipedia This 43-acre preserve of white pine and hemlock is unlike other forest preserves. After being hit by 3 tornadoes it’s a beautiful reminder of destruction and regrowth as the fallen trees mingle with the standing. Walking through here is nearly transcendent.

  1. Sleeping Giant, Hamden

David Smith/Flickr So named because of its likeness to that of a man asleep on his back, this traprock mountain offers a great hike and gorgeous sights. According to Native American legend, an angry spirit named Hobbomock was causing trouble until a spirit named Kietan used a spell to put him to sleep forever.

  1. Kent Falls, Kent

Matt McDermott/Flickr The dramatic (and multiple) falls in Kent makes Kent Falls an exception to Connecticut’s usual waterfalls. Stairs and observation decks will guarantee you a superior view of this wonder!

  1. Autumn

slack12/Flickr The changing of the trees is so incredibly jaw dropping that when Business Insider listed the best natural wonder in each of the 50 states they named an entire season for Connecticut. Looks like we don’t need any craters or volcanoes to attract visitors. They’ll come just for the fall!

Aren’t these places just fantastic? If you haven’t had a chance to check out the “7 Wonders of the World of Connecticut” I would definitely add it to your list!
