Visit Matoaka Beach.

Jamie Alvarenga / Only In Your State Calvert Cliffs is a must-do at least once, but it can get overcrowded during warmer months. Instead, head to the little known Matoaka Beach which also has white clay cliffs full of fossils.

Instead of Ocean City…

Visit Sandy Point State Park.

Chesapeake Bay Program Nothing beats the Ocean but Sandy Point State Park is also splendid on a summer day. Meander up and down the beach while taking in views of the Bay Bridge. It’s best to get here early.
