There are many places located throughout Alabama that are believed to be haunted. Among these haunted places are cemeteries. Listed below are nine of the spookiest cemeteries in Alabama, and they’re not for the faint of heart.
- Maple Hill Cemetery (Dead Children’s Playground) - Huntsville

For example, many visitors have reported the sounds of a rocker moving back and forth whenever they pass by a particular burial site. This burial site belongs to an elderly lady. She’s buried next to an antique rocker, which just so happens to be her most prized possession. Another haunting feature of Maple Hill Cemetery is that it’s the location of Dead Children’s Playground. At this playground, many visitors have witnessed the ghosts of children swinging during the late night hours, in addition to hearing their laughter.
- Forks of Cypress Cemetery (or Jackson Cemetery) - Florence

In 1966, it was struck by lightning and burned down, leaving nothing but the pillars. The Jackson Family is buried in the cemetery that’s located on the property. According to local legend, a tall woman will suddenly appear whenever a visitor kisses the tallest tombstone.
- Shell Mound Park - Dauphin Island

- Bass Cemetery - Irondale
