Every city has their own really weird traditions, interests, and definition of “normal”. In St. Louis we also do weird things that people from other parts of the country do not understand. Here is a list of 9 extremely weird things only people from St. Louis do:
- Bass in the trunk?

- Wanna go to the boat?
wikimedia/Rambling Gambler When friends come to visit from out of town and we invite them to the boat confusion ensues. As they pack their sunscreen and floaties we check our bank account and grab the keys. “Going to the boat” in St. Louis means it is time to hit the casino!
- Get a day off work or school because the “river is up”.
www.defense.gov A legit reason to take off school or work is because you cannot get into St. Louis or out of St. Louis until the river comes down. The process can easily take days and in St. Louis every major highway in and out of the city can be affected and literally shut down the entire city.
- We are not impressed with your Indiana culture if we refer to you as a “hoosier”
