New Jersey is home to a wide variety of unique places but I can’t find many quite like this. A fantastic, family-friendly destination, Abma’s Farm is home to a wonderful market, greenhouse and petting zoo. There are many great farms in the Garden State and this one stands out as being truly special. Read on to see why.

Abma’s Farm & Market is open all year long, six days a week.

Facebook/Abma’s Farm They’re closed on Sunday for “church and family.” A local favorite for over 85 years, they’re Bergen County’s only produce and poultry farm. Their motto is, “Where everything homegrown is raised with love, picked or cooked daily, and served fresh.”

The family-owned and operated farm will make you feel like family, too.

Facebook/Abma’s Farm Great care goes into everything they produce, and it shows. You’ll find fresh eggs from free range chickens and a wide variety of fruits and veggies including different types of lettuce, cauliflower, several different types of peppers, bok choy, sweet corn, many types of tomatoes, green beans, red and white onions, swiss chard, turnips, different types of eggplant, squash, leafy and tuscan kale, garlic, chickory, raddichio, spinach, kohlrabi, leeks, and more! Produce is GMO-free and all natural. They also offer fresh, hormone and antibiotic-free turkey.

Their market offers more than just your average farm fare.

Yelp/Jason P. Sure, you can get great produce, but they’ve also got a full bakery. You’ll find a variety of pastries and a selection of homegrown, seasonal pies including strawberry rhubarb in the spring and pumpkin in the fall. But let’s say you want a full meal. You can get that here, too.

Call your lunch order in now…

Facebook/Abma’s Farm Their kitchen has freshly made sandwiches, hot soups, yogurt parfaits, and salads to go! Lunch and dinner options include ready made turkey and chicken meals, pasta dishes, pot pies, and seasonal appetizers. Quiches are made daily with their own high quality eggs. They also sell specialty salsas, sauces and salad dressings.

The farm also offers a free petting zoo to patrons of their greenhouse and market.

Yelp/Theresa M. You’ll find cows, chicks, bunnies, pheasants, turkeys, goats, ponies, donkeys, and calves. If you’d like to feed the animals, they sell crackers in the market just for them. If you visit the market, your kids will want to come with. It doesn’t feel like running errands at all. There are even pony rides from May - October.

And we can’t forget the greenhouse or spectacular special events.

Facebook/Abma’s Farm This is a great spot for fresh flowers but it may be an even better spot for fun. Shop for gifts, enjoy classes and workshops, sign the kids up for summer camp, book a birthday party, visit for Corn Fest and more. This Saturday (August 5th) is their first ever Potato Dig. Bring a shovel and dig your own while learning how potatoes are grown!

This is the perfect place to bring family, but it’s also a lovely excursion with friends and a spectacular solo shopping trip for the freshest fruits and veggies in Bergen County. Even if you live a while away, it’s worth a drive. Abma’s is located at 700 Lawlins Road in Wyckoff.
