It’s that time of year, where we find ourselves constantly searching for fun ways to run out the clock on this freezing winter weather. All throughout New York you can find beautiful gardens that will leave you in awe, most of which you won’t be able to enjoy during the colder months. But there are a few exceptions! One being the historical Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens.

Celebrating its 7th year, the Lumagination light show at Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens is one for the books.

Vicky B./Yelp If you’ve never visited this magical place, then Lumagination is the greatest excuse you could have to come and experience this amazing place. The historic attraction opened in 1900 and features Victorian glass houses that look like a gorgeous palace.

This year the light show is even more anticipated, with Greenhouses 2 & 3 reopening after being closed to the public for nearly 2 years.

Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens/TripAdvisor After years of needing repair, renovations began taking place at then end of April in 2015. After being closed to the public, the greenhouses have opened just in time for the annual Lumagination light show.

Greenhouse 2 now features a new Aquatic Garden.

CaptMikey9/Flickr In the Aquatic Garden you’ll be able to find a charming pond filled with Koi, visitors will also be able to see Sugar Cane and Orchids in this area of the garden.

And in Greenhouse 3 you’ll now be able to experience the gorgeous new Asian Rainforest.

CaptMikey9/Flickr From various species of bamboo to breathtaking bonsai plants and Buddha statues, you’ll love entering this unique little Rainforest that’s been created here.

The light show combines vibrant colors and wonderful sounds to reinvent the scenic indoor space.

Collaborating with the University at Buffalo’s Theatre & Dance Department, visitors will be able to see illuminated sculptures on the front lawn and see the student’s transform one of the greenhouses.

Lumagination is open from 6PM to 9PM, with extended hours until 10PM on Fridays and Saturdays.
