Enchanting. What does this word mean to you? To me, it means something magical, mystical, and beautiful. I did some digging to see what kind of enchanting places I could find around Indiana. Here’s what I found!

  1. Enchanted Forest (Porter)

Shookgenealogy via WikiMedia Commons Yes, including this in this piece is incredibly cheesy. But I’m a pretty cheesy person. I also think it fits the title as this was technically an enchanted place in Indiana once and I didn’t know it existed. In my defense, I was only a year old the year it closed down.

Enchanted Forest was the name of a very small amusement park located in Porter, Indiana. It opened in 1957 and operated until 1991. A lot of the rides were moved to an amusement park in Wisconsin after the park closed down in April of 1991. In 1994, the park opened up again under the name Splash Down Dunes Water Park only to close down in 2009 after an owner dispute.
