Vermont is a pretty rural place so it’s pretty easy to find a spot to soak in a little solitude. We have many favorite spots to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Green Mountain State, and here are 12 of our favorite hidden oases in VT.
- Peavine Park, Bethel
Flickr/Liz West Bethel, Vermont has a small park tucked away down by the White River called Peavine Park. It’s quiet and lovely, and provides a peaceful place to walk or just sit.
- Equinox Pond, Manchester
Flickr/Ben Soren Equinox Pond in is just a short (but steep) hike off Equinox Pond Road. The water can be still as glass and crystal clear, making for a great spot to relax.
- White River, Bethel
Flickr/Liz West Another spot in Bethel is the White River, and it’s easy to see where it got its name. You’ll love the trees which are rippled and white.
- Quiet bench in Woodstock
Flickr/Craig T. You may think of the bustling village when imagining Woodstock, but there are many spots around that provide solitude.
- Salmond Covered Bridge, Weatherford
Flickr/James Walsh Because they are often bypassed and on seldom used roads, many covered bridges can be a bit tricky to find, so the Salmond Covered Bridge has this handy sign.
- Basin Harbor Club, Ferrisburgh
Flickr/Don Shall The Basin Harbor Club has both fun activities and quiet spots for reflection. Whichever you choose, this is one place that is an all around Oasis.
- The Quiet Path, Stowe
Flickr/Matt Phillips The Stowe bike path is an active spot, but there is a Quiet Path that forks off that shouldn’t be missed. It’s scenic, peaceful and all around lovely.
- Guildhall Town Green
Flickr/Jimmy Emerson, DVM It might be in the center of town, but you’ll certainly have your privacy.
- Lake Willoughby, Westmore
Flickr/Ben Perry One of the most photographed spots is also one of the most serene.
- Kettle Pond in Groton State Forest
Flickr/Scott McCracken A short hike to Owl’s Head Lookout will bring you to this spot, which feels like you’re on top of the world.
- Robert Frost Trail, Ripton
Flickr/Jay Parker This year round trail is only one mile long, but you can get lost in the beautiful words of Robert Frost as his poems are mounted along the way.
- Path of Life Sculpture Garden, Windsor
