- Toronto
paul bica/Flickr One of the coolest, cosmopolitan cities in North America, it’s also really accessible from Michigan - by car or by bus.
- Chicago

- Lake Michigan
Jermil dotdotdot/Flickr Its beaches attract not only locals, but people from all over the world who want pristine shorelines, without that nasty sea salt. Pictured here, Buttersville Park in Ludington.
- Arizona
Patrick/Flickr Some snowbirds prefer the dry heat of the desert to Florida’s humidity. In which case, Arizona is great for that. Pictured here, Enchantment Resort in Sedona.
- Up North
David Marvin/Flickr Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is a world apart from the LP. And that’s a good thing, especially if you’re looking to enjoy a small town atmosphere among down to earth Yoopers. All surrounded by the vastness of nature. Here’s a shot of one such UP spot, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
- Indiana Dunes State Park
Todd Petrie/Flickr Indiana has a bad rep as sort of the armpit of the Midwest. But there’s no denying its beaches along Lake Michigan are something special, such as here at the Indiana Dunes State Park.
