Over the years Minnesota has become known for a few specific foods, among them, those created in pyrex. We love nothing more than our home-cooked comfort food, and whether or not you eat them on a regular basis, if you’re a real Minnesotan you won’t be able to stop your mouth from watering when you read this list of MN favorites.

  1. Hotdish

Flickr/Pattie With tater tots to be specific. If you’re from MN and don’t love tater tot hotdish there’s a real issue.

  1. MN Beer

Minnesotans love their home-state brews from August Schell to Surly and everything in between.

  1. Hamburger Hotdish

Flickr/moleofproduction Hamburger hotdish! Another MN favorite, and totally different from regular tater tot hotdish because… hamburger meat.

  1. Bloody Marys

Flickr/pcutler With a snit or it’s not even worth it. But these babies are the best start to many a good MN Sunday.

  1. Green Bean Hotdish

Flickr/willie With some fried onions that are really the only part we like.

  1. Nut Goodies

Jo Magliocco This St. Paul-created classic is still a favorite of most Minnesotan’s today. Or am I the only one with a jar of these in my kitchen? Seriously… am I?

  1. Chicken Hotdish

Flickr/Kimberly Vardeman Chicken and wild rice hotdish! Minnesota’s amazing wild rice combined with classic hotdish ingredients like cream of mushroom, cheese, and peas!

  1. Burgers

Flickr/Kim More specifically, those with gooey, melted cheese on the inside. No matter how they’re spelled.

  1. Cheeseburger Hotdish

Flickr/Keith Ellison We’ll also take these molten cheeseburgers in hotdish form. Basically this is the super cheesy variety of the previously mentioned hamburger hotdish.

  1. Ice Cream

Flickr/Zechariah Judy Everyone loves ice cream, but Minnesota LOVES ice cream. We have so many places with homemade ice cream it’s crazy.

  1. Breakfast Hotdish

Flickr/Steven Depolo Breakfast hotdish. Eggs, hash browns, sausage… basically we throw in anything delicious that you would normally eat before noon.

  1. Walleye

Flickr/emilee rader Straight from our lakes, we favor it fried, but any preparation is still guaranteed to be a Minnesota favorite.

  1. Tuna Hotdish

Flickr/Corey Balazowich Because while everyone else dreads the ominous “tuna casserole”, we think our mom’s tuna hotdish is pretty dang good. The name makes all the difference.

  1. Brats

Flickr/fatherspoon Our favorite meat for cooking up all summer long. They’re the best.

  1. Pizza Hotdish

Flickr/lvalue Pizza hotdish! A newer take on the old classic. Because we love a good pizza but we’d rather scoop it out of a pan.

  1. Cheese Curds

Flickr/Connie Ma Sure this could be an effect of residing this close to Wisconsin for so long, but if you’ve had the ones at the State Fair especially, you get why the whole state can’t help but love them.

  1. Hotdish On A Stick

Flickr/matthew logelin The only thing better than hotdish is when you put it on a stick and deep fry it.
