How many establishments can say they’ve been around for 120 years? Most businesses come and go – but maybe ice cream was the reason this family survived a century and counting. Fentons got its start in 1894. That year, founder Eldridge Seth Fenton poured his own milk from his cows, into his glass containers before delivering to customers in a horse-drawn wagon. It’s not just the history, but the handmade goodness that keeps generations of families coming to this tiny ice cream shop in Oakland, California.

He said that his absolute favorite was not only the ice cream, but their crab sandwich. It was a favorite of our mom’s so it must be in the genes to know a heavenly crab sandwich when you bite into one. Way to go, little brother!
