Legends have it…

Freaktography - Flickr There are actually three stories that surround the tunnel’s horrifying history, each of which are equally creepy. The most common tells of a poor little girl who died inside the tunnel after escaping a nearby barn fire. She almost made it out alive… but her burning clothing consumed her as she ran desperately for water to wash away the flames.

Another sad tale tells of a girl who was attacked by a local man and murdered inside of the tunnel. He set her body on fire to destroy the evidence of his horrendous crime.

The last grim legend is that of a young girl who was kidnapped and beaten by her own father after a custody case that did not turn out in his favor. If he couldn’t have her, nobody could… so he set her on fire. It’s not hard to see why he lost that legal battle… but how tragic to lose an innocent soul as well.

Regardless of which legend you hear, there’s one thing they all have in common…

It is said that if you stand in the center of the tunnel and light a match, you will hear the screams of a ghostly girl, followed by a chilling wind that fills the tunnel and extinguishes the flame you hold.

If you think you can have a slightly less terrifying experience in the light of day, think again!
