Is your county healthy? Maybe it isn’t so much if it’s on this list. We already had a list of the healthiest counties in the state, so here’s a list of the most unhealthy.
These are based on information from a program that annually ranks every county in the country according to various health factors.
County Health Rankings and Roadmaps take into account length of life, birth weights, obesity and smoking rates, physical activity, DUI deaths, unemployment and the number of children living in poverty, among many other factors. - Nicolas County

- Wayne
DM/Flickr Wayne has an 11 percent rate of excessive drinking and a 37 percent rate of obesity. It ranks 47 out of 55 counties in the West Virginia.
- Raleigh
Gene/Flickr Raleigh County has a 35 percent rate of physical inactivity and a 46 percent rate of access to exercise opportunities. It ranks 48 out of 55 counties in West Virginia.
- Lincoln
OZinOH/Flickr In Lincoln County, 30 percent of adults smoke and 37 percent are obese. The county is ranking 49 for health out of 55 counties.
- Boone

- Mercer

- Logan

- Mingo

- Wyoming
Ed Kennedy Wyoming has a 6 percent rate of excessive drinking and a 40 percent rate of physical inactivity. It’s ranked 54 out of 55 counties in WV.
- McDowell
NASKWV/Flickr McDowell County has a 35 percent adult smoking rate and a 38 percent adult obesity rate, which contribute to it being the most unhealthy in the state, according to these rankings.
