Instead of getting out and enjoying the winter weather, Oklahoma residents will stuck inside with high hopes that they won’t lose their power this weekend. As the current ice storm begins to hit the Sooner State, more and more people have begun to report the predicted power outages in their area. Wonder what you should expect for the next several days? Just yesterday Governor Mary Fallin declared a state of emergency for all 77 of Oklahoma’s counties.

City and State officials have warned those who are in Oklahoma that they should prepare to be without power for 2 days or more.
Wikimedia Commons Always a shocking sight to see, those who left their shopping to the last minute found that most of Oklahoma’s grocery stores were left with nothing but empty shelves. With the possibility of going without power for the entire weekend, our residents quickly began stocking their cabinets and clearing out local stores of all their goods.
Warnings of icy roads and power outages had the State of Emergency Operations Center open at 7AM this morning, with more than 100 generators ready to deploy.

The main priority for these generators will be places like hospitals, fire stations, police departments, with the remaining going to areas that have the highest reported power outages.

As of this morning, areas like Tulsa have already begun to report handfuls of power outages from the freezing rain that began earlier today.
Rex Brown/Flickr Just as predicted, early this morning officials began receiving calls of power outages throughout Oklahoma. The OG&E was prepared for the ice storm with more than 1,300 linemen on standby.
The latest reports from the National Weather Service show that the state can continue to expect significant accumulations of ice from now until Sunday.
