Looking for the ultimate Michigan foodie challenge? You’re gonna want to check out these spots. Most of them will reward you with free food, but only if you can finish your plate. Others will provide for the ultimate in bragging rights. And of course, you’ll get your likeness on some sort of wall of fame (or wall of shame, depending on how you look at it).
- Dog Central, Mt Pleasant
This challenge is all about bragging rights. Take the Dog Central Challenge, consisting of downing three foot-long hotdogs with chili, two toppings, fries, onion rings a pop and you’ll find yourself on the wall of fame. If you fail though, you’ll be on the wall of shame.
- The Grill House, Allegan
This challenge is known as the Lumberjack Club and joining it involves scarfing down a 42-ounce steak. Think you can handle it?
- Mallie’s Sports Grill and Bar, Southgate

Facebook Craving Mexican? How about try this 8-pound monster from Pancho Villa? It’s loaded with cheese and sauce and you’ll be rewarded with a T-shirt and your name on the wall if you manage to gobble it all down.
- Stuckos Pub and Grill, Marquette
If the one-pound patty, three slices of bacon, three slices of American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and the one pound side of fries weren’t enough, Stucko’s Big Bambino is also topped with quarter pound all-beef hot dog… Contenders are timed. Winner gets bragging rights and the contest named in his or her honor.
- Tio’s Mexican Cafe, Ann Arbor
Known as Mt. Nacheesmo, this five-pound nacho dish must be consumed in 40 minutes or less. Winner gets that $40 plate for free, a T-shirt, and a photo on the wall.
- ‘Wiches, Oxford
In this challenge, you’ve got spend some money to make some money. If you can get through this $15, four and a half-pound Wichzilla, filled with turkey, bacon, ham and all the fixings, you’ll score a $25 gift card, a shirt and your photo on the wall of fame.
