September is officially here, which means autumn is a mere couple of weeks away. It’s time to unpack your sweaters and boots, drink your first pumpkin spice latte of the season, and become fully enamored with fall foliage! It seems like everyone falls in love with fall every single year, and it’s not hard to understand why.
There’s just something about the crisp air and the warm, golden colors of the season that comfort everyone’s soul. Hues of red, orange, and yellow turn our environment into something magical, and the best way to experience it is to take a step out of the city for a day, and hop on a train to view fall foliage at its best.
Welcome to Osceola, Wisconsin!
Facebook / The Osceola & St. Croix Dinner Train This sleepy small town lies just along the border of Minnesota and Wisconsin, and it’s home to a rather popular waterfall, as well as the sweetest train ride you’ll ever experience.
The Osceola & St. Croix River Valley Railway runs every year from May to October.
TripAdvisor/ILoveUSAVacations Despite traveling through Wisconsin, the trains are operated by the Minnesota Transportation Museum.
The railway offers two different trips: The Marine on St. Croix, which is a 90-minute round trip ride, and the Destination Dresser, clocking in at 50 minutes round trip.
Facebook / The Osceola & St. Croix Dinner Train The Dresser train also offers special “Pumpkin Express” rides on October 20th - 22nd. This ride is all about the kids; autumn-themed games, live music, and tons of fun activities await, and kids under 15 take home free pumpkins!

All aboard for a one of a kind experience!
Yelp/Melissa H. While many opt to ride coach and are only privy to a snack cart, the Osceola and St. Croix Valley Railway are proud to have dining cars that serve brunches, pizza parties, and dinners. What could be better than being wined and dined with the most stunning scenery just outside of the window?
While vintage train rides might be an experience on their own, what we’re really after is the beautiful foliage.
Flickr/Chris A significant amount of the train ride wanders through Wisconsin’s woods, where you’ll see small waterfalls, a variety of rock formations, and a plethora of the brightest fall leaves you’ll ever see. Hues of goldenrod, fiery red, and pumpkin orange will warm your heart.
