Not going to lie, when I started working on this update I wasn’t really sure how many rivers there even were in Indiana. Keep in mind, I lack a reliable car, I have a special needs toddler, and at the moment I’m also six months pregnant – you add that to the fact that I live in the city and I just don’t get the pleasure of seeing the more beautiful aspects of the state.

That being said, I did some research and I learned we have TONS of rivers in Indiana and some of them are pretty incredible. I did some digging and found some pretty pictures of these rivers to share with you!

  1. Big Blue River

WikiMedia Commons The Big Blue River is a little more than 80 miles long. The river passes through the following towns: New Castle, Knightstown, Carthage, Morristown, Shelbyville, and Edinburgh.

  1. Big Pine Creek

WikiMedia Commons I know, this is a creek – not a river. But, it’s technically listed in several directories as a “river of Indiana”. It’s also fairly large for it to be “just a creek,” so I decided to include it anyway. This creek is a little more than 50 miles long and it travels through Warren and Benton counties.

  1. Fawn River

WikiMedia Commons You might argue that Fawn River is technically located in Michigan. While it’s true Michigan tends to lay claim on this river, it’s also partly located in the northeastern portion of Indiana as well. You can find portions of the river in Steuben County near the Pokagon State Park.

  1. Ohio River

WikiMedia Commons The Ohio River is 981 miles long and flows through 14 states including Indiana.

  1. Patoka River

WikiMedia Commons Patoka River is located in the southwestern portion of Indiana. It’s 167 miles long.

  1. Yellow River

WikiMedia Commons The Yellow River is 62.3 miles long and runs through the northern portion of Indiana.

  1. St. Joseph River

WikiMedia Commons St. Joseph River is roughly 206 miles long. This fiver runs through northern Indiana and southern Michigan.

  1. Kankakee River

WikiMedia Commons Kankakee River flows through the northeastern portion of Illinois and the northwestern portion of Indiana. It’s roughly 133 miles long.

  1. White River

WikiMedia Commons White River is the name of a two forked river that flows through southern and central Indiana. The river is roughly 362. The picture displayed is of the White River Dam.

  1. Wabash River

WikiMedia Commons The Wabash River runs through the northern portion of Indiana. There’s actually a dam in the river that’s located near Huntington.
