With Christmas coming up in about a week, you may be wondering what’s going to be under the tree for you. Depending on where you live in the state, it could be something magical… or just a big sack of coal. After making a list, checking it twice, and verifying with several different reports, here are 10 places in Washington that made the naughty list this year, and why:

  1. Seattle

Aaron Hockley / Flickr Are you surprised the big city made this list? Besides having some of the most crime, Seattle has more bars, liquor stores, and casinos than anywhere else in the state. You might also be surprised to learn that Emerald City tops the charts for the Riskiest Online Cities In America, making it the most likely place to be a victim of a cybercrime like Identity Theft. Seattle’s also been ranked as the third “Highest” City in America, according to Movoto.

  1. Tukwila

Ray Rafidi Since this suburb is just outside of Seattle, Santa may just want to skip the whole area - seeing as that a recent report by Safewise with FBI data named Tukwila the second most dangerous city in the entire country. Yikes…

  1. Spokane

vmf-214 / Flickr Being the second largest city in our state, it’s not really surprising that this place in eastern Washington has a higher crime rate. Looking at the numbers, Movoto ranked the city as the 3rd Most Dangerous in the whole state, which was actually higher than Seattle.

  1. Longview

Facebook / Longview While this area may have been named one of the Prettiest Cities in America by Forbes, they’re still naughty when it comes to property crime statistics. According to 24/7 Wall Street, this town is actually ranked 4th in the country for cities where crime is soaring.

  1. Yakima

Yakima / Facebook Turns out, the “Palm Springs of Washington” is naughtier than you may think. Movoto ranked the town as the one of the Most Dangerous Places To Live in our state, noting that the overall crime ranking in the state is 8th, but the chance of being a victim is 1 in 15.

  1. Tacoma

Joe Mabel / Flickr Tacoma is definitely not the most innocent place, and looking at other reports confirms it. Aside from being another one of the most dangerous areas to live in our state, it’s also been named one of the Drunkest Cities by Roadsnacks. The town’s home to quite a lot of dispensaries, bars, and a huge casino.. if you want to double your Christmas bonus.

  1. Everett

Wikipedia This city north of Seattle may make for a pretty comfortable home, but it’s on the naughty list this year for its notably high property crime rate. The chance of being robbed here is 1 in 15, according to this study by Neighborhood Scout.

  1. Olympia

Downtown Olympia Don’t get me wrong - Olympia is an wonderful, safe place to live… but there’s definitely no shortage of bars, dispensaries, breweries, wineries, or parties going on in our state’s capital.

  1. Snohomish

Downtown Snohomish Facebook / Hurzeler Photography Being such a lovely area, you’re probably wondering why Snohomish made this list. While it is much safer than most other places mentioned, the town surprisingly has one of the highest divorce rates in the entire state at 19%, and they also ranked 4th in bars per capita.

  1. Woodinville

Tere Sue Gidlof This Seattle suburb may be relatively safe, but they’re definitely not shy when it comes to drinking. According to RoadSnacks, Woodinville is the Drunkest City In Washington and has more bars per person than any other town. The number of liquor stores per capita is also 2nd in the whole state. Cheers to that!

Obviously, this is meant for holiday entertainment…but, if you could add any other Washington towns to this list, which ones would you include? Share in the comments below!
