Everyone that lives in Minnesota’s metro areas needs breaks now and again (or all the time). And one of our favorite ways to do that is to retreat to one of MN’s stunning small towns and regain our sense of calm and relaxation. These 11 in particular offer amazing views and are always quiet enough for a peaceful getaway.

City of Holdingford This beautiful tiny town is home to MN’s largest covered bridge and surrounded by gorgeous prairie. It’s known as the “Gateway to Lake Wobegon” (Garrison Keillor’s fictional town) and has under 1,000 residents making it the perfect place to enjoy peace and quiet.

Google Maps This baby township on Lake Superior of just over 200 is the perfect resort stop to enjoy amazing North Shore views, and find some true peace. It’s also surrounded by some of MN’s most spectacular state parks.

Jo Magliocco This tiny city of just over 2,000 on the Mississippi River is beautiful and offers plenty of riverside strolling with no crowds. It’s an excellent spot to escape to from the Metro - just far enough to find silence.
- Litchfield
City of Litchfield Another tiny city, you will love the amazing public parks in this town with some of the most peaceful B&Bs in the state. You can also enjoy the calming views of Lake Ripley.
- Walnut Grove
