Are you just itching to get outside now that the weather is warming up? I know that I am, and I’ve found that spring is one of the very best times of year to explore some of Utah’s most beautiful spots. Take a look at these 13 places you should put on your list for April and May.
- Red Butte Garden
Red Butte Garden/Facebook Red Butte Garden is beautiful right now! You’ll found thousands of daffodils here in April, and all the trees are budding and blooming.
- St. George
Carl BSr/flickr If you just can’t wait for 80-90 degree weather, visit St George in April and May. The temps are balmy, the hiking is fabulous and the golf courses beckon.
- Antelope Island
Agate Joe/TripAdvisor Antelope Island is a great place to explore year-round, but…let’s talk about biting gnats and midges. They hatch in late spring and can make your life pretty miserable. Visit right now to avoid them, but hurry - they could come out at any time now.
- Kodachrome State Park
Utah State Parks And Recreation/Facebook Kodachrome is one of Utah’s most underrated parks. It’s particularly gorgeous during spring months.
- Temple Square
Temple Square/Facebook If you’ve lived in Utah for long, you know all about Temple Square’s tulips. Walk through the temple grounds, and check out the thousands of blooms at Main Street Plaza.
- Arches National Park
Tom Kelly/flickr Moab (and Arches National Park) get pretty crowded during the summer months. Visit now for a little more solitude, and mild weather.
- Thanksgiving Point
Dru W./TripAdvisor Thanksgiving Point’s Tulip Festival is going on right now. It runs through May, so be sure to stop by soon.
- Utah State Capitol
Utah State Capitol/Facebook The Utah State Capitol is home to many cherry trees - which are typically in bloom right now. Beautiful!
- Goblin Valley State Park
Sarah/Flickr Goblin Valley State Park is one of Utah’s most interesting places. But let’s be honest - it is a baking hot oven in the summer. Make plans to visit now before the temps hit 100 degrees.
- Bonneville Shoreline Trail
Siani Weston/flickr This trail, which reaches from Ogden to Provo, is muddy after it rains, but otherwise it’s beautiful this time of year.
- Utah’s Ski Resorts
Snowbird/Facebook With all this talk of spring blooms and Southern Utah parks, you might be surprised to see our ski resorts make this list. Don’t underestimate the thrill of spring skiing and boarding, though!
- Take in a Bees game.
Salt Lake Bees/Facebook Is there a better way to celebrate warm weather than by watching a baseball game? The Bees season has already started - join the Orem Owlz or Ogden Raptors starting in June.
- Zion National Park
Zion National Park/Facebook Utah’s most-visited national park is just stunning in April. You’ll find fewer crowds and the Virgin River is more than a trickle this time of year.
Of course, we can’t list ALL the great places in Utah to visit this spring. So, add your favorite to the comments here so our readers can see them!
