Fourth of July fireworks are a longstanding tradition in the United States and some of the nation’s best shows can be seen right here in New Jersey. We also offer some great small-town shows and celebrations in honor of Independence Day. Here are some of the best, all around the state:
- Freedom And Fireworks Festival, Jersey City
Flickr/Tasayu Tasnaphun Though the Macy’s Fireworks will be held over the East River this year, New Jersey will still have its own show over the Hudson on July 4th. The festival will be held in Liberty State Park, starting at 1 p.m. with fireworks around 10.
- Asbury Park Independence Day Celebration
Flickr/Glenn Kraeck Enjoy a farmers market by day and fireworks by night. Look for the sky to light up at the beach, beginning at 9 p.m. on July 4th.
- Paterson Fireworks Spectacular

- Atlantic City Fireworks
Flickr/Hope Abrams The Atlantic City fireworks show has been called one of the top five in the country. Snag a spot along the boardwalk on July 3rd, where fireworks from multiple barges and a marina platform will light up the entire city starting at 9:30.

Though at least one of these shows is likely a short drive from your home, almost every town has its own festivities. Hackensack offers all day entertainment on the 4th and Califon hosts a multi-day festival. From High Point to Cape May, the skies will shine bright with red, white and blue this weekend!
