Thanks to AMC’s hit show, The Walking Dead, zombies are appearing everywhere. And with this new zombie crazed world, it’s only natural to wonder what you’d do if there was an actual zombie apocalypse. Well, the good news is that if you’re in Vermont, you’re starting off in good shape. Zombie’s are said to target crowded areas first, so people in a big city such as Manhattan probably don’t have a chance. City suburbs are a close second. The key to surviving a zombie apocalypse is to get into a desolate area with clear views of incoming attacks.
So if an outbreak is going to happen, here are the best 5 places in Vermont to survive a Zombie apocalypse. You’ll thank me later…
- Burton Island.
Flickr/BostonTx
Flickr/BostonTx Both uninhabited and only a short swim from the mainland, this 250-acre isolated slice of heaven boasts hot water showers and power. Perfect for waiting out the dead with clean hair.
- Mt. Mansfield.
Flickr/redjar
Flickr/cm195902 At over 4300 feet up, this eagle’s nest affords 360 degree unobstructed views. You are above the tree line and can see the undead coming from a long way off. It also has the most powerful broadcasting towers in the state, satellite link-up and cell tower. Plus, in the winter you can get some “freshies.”
The Kingdom
Flickr/ben pollard Up in the North East part of the state there is a place that is 2,027 square miles with only 64,000 people. That’s only 31 zombies per square mile. Totally manageable. This area is remote, beautiful and full of game, with an estimated 3.4 moose per square mile. This is perfect for the rustic, log cabin escape.
- Northwest correctional facility
Flickr/Michael Letour Located outside St. Albans, this penitentiary has guard towers, group showers, and miles and miles of fence. Operating as a 235 person maximum security prison with gardens, water conservation and recycling, who could ask for a more environmentally correct concrete bunker?
- Green Mountain Coffee Facility
Flickr/kelbycarr It might not be the most secure or picturesque, but if you need the finer things in life to live out the Apocalypse, then this is for you. A secure campus dedicated to making delicious coffee. Coincidentally, Green Mountain Coffee is located about a mile between Ben & Jerry’s ice cream production facility and Cold Hollow Cider Mill - specifically their cider donut machines.
Best of luck surviving! Share this with your fellow The Walking Dead fans.
