It’s possible you’ve driven by this spectacular castle in Southern California numerous times, but have you ever wondered what you might find inside? Let’s explore this very mysterious and hidden SoCal castle that can only be experienced by invitation only. There’s no question this place is magical in every way.
The Magic Castle
TripAdvisor/Nautical Voyager At first glance this castle in Los Angeles looks like it might be right out of a fairy tale or maybe even a Harry Potter movie. But there’s nothing imaginary about this spectacular spot. It’s a real place where magic abounds.
yelp/eric s. The Magic Castle is home to the Academy of Magical Arts, a members-only club for magicians and for those who have a love for magic. You can only enter this stunning castle by invitation only or with a current member, so getting a glimpse inside this castle is a rare treat.
Yelp/michael a. You won’t find people wearing jeans and t-shirts inside this castle. No Siree. This is one fancy mansion with a strict dress code that requires people to dress up. No casual Friday at this castle! And you’ll see why once you step inside.
But first, a little history…
Yelp/Lea P.
yelp/andy n. The history of this castle is spellbinding. This mansion was originally built in 1909 as a private residence, but since that time it has had many transformations. From being divided into a multi-family home, converted into housing for the elderly, then split up into small apartments, this castle has seen it all. But it was in the 1960s when this castle was transformed into what it is today – a magnificent and sprawling club for magicians and for those who love the mystery and intrigue of magic acts.
And now for a look inside:
facebook/magic castle The dark wood and elegant finishes are absolutely alluring. Old photos grace the walls and dim lighting casts a warm glow throughout the surroundings that adds to the mystery of this grand castle.
yelp/Judy N. Imagine wandering through one of these secret rooms where only members of the Magical Arts are allowed. It definitely feels like a place where you might run into Harry Potter.

The Hat and Hare Pub

yelp/stefani t. The remaining rooms are a mystery, as cameras are not allowed inside the property so there are very few photos of this exclusive castle that is now a historic-cultural monument.
If you want to see more of The Magic Castle you’ll have to find a member who will bring you in as a guest. Doesn’t that sound like fun?! I would love to step inside that castle and spend a fairy tale evening attending one of the magic shows. How about you?
