It’s no secret to anyone who has visited New York that our state is home to some pretty enchanting gardens. No matter what region you find yourself in, everyone has that one peaceful and serene location that they repeatedly love to visit. For many of us, that means finding a soothing spot by the water or taking a stroll through one of our woodland areas. Hiding away in Dutchess County in the small village of Millbrook, you’ll find the little known natural oasis that is Innisfree Garden.

Peter/Flickr Looking like a breathing fairytale, Innisfree Garden was inspired by both Chinese and Japanese gardens and landscapes. Another large source of inspiration to those who helped create this garden, was Alice In Wonderland.

John Weiss/Flickr Admission costs $6 ($7 on weekends and holidays) to visit the garden. Open from 10AM to 4PM Wednesday through Fridays and weekends/holidays from 11AM to 5pm, visitors can choose to either explore the landscape on their own or take a guided tour.
