Growing up in New Hampshire, there are certain places we all went and things we all did. Revisiting them now – maybe with your kids or grandkids – you’re sure to take a trip down memory lane. If you haven’t gone back to these spots since you were a kid, perhaps it’s time to plan a trip!

  1. Canobie Lake Park, Salem

Wikimedia Commons/Canobie Lake Park If you grew up in New Hampshire and didn’t go to Canobie Lake Park, did you really grow up in New Hampshire? You may have gone before they put some of the newer rides in place, but we can bet you’ve at least ridden the Yankee Cannonball - after all, it’s been there since 1936!

  1. Story Land, Glen

Facebook/StoryLandNH For many of us growing in New Hampshire, Story Land was basically Disney World. With enchanting stories and plenty of fun rides, this place seemed just plain magical.

  1. Benson’s Wild Animal Farm, Hudson

Facebook/Bensons.waf If you’re old enough to have grown up in New Hampshire prior to 1987, you’ll remember Benson’s Wild Animal Farm, which was once home to both exotic animals and rides. These days it’s a charming park. Learn more here.

  1. Chutters, Littleton

Facebook/chutters.candy This Littleton institution has been in operation since the 1800s. If you grew up in the area or visited, you probably went there for old fashioned candy - after all, they have the longest candy counter in the world. Learn more here.

  1. Funspot, Laconia

American Classic Arcade Museum If you went to Weirs Beach as a kid, you almost definitely went to Funspot (which is the largest arcade in the world, and has been in operation since 1952!) You may not know that now Funspot houses the American Classic Arcade Museum, where you can play the very same games you enjoyed as a kid. Learn more here.

  1. Clark’s Trading Post, Lincoln

TripAdvisor/Paulalalahhhhh Where else can you watch trained bears and get chased by a wolf man? Open since 1928, Clark’s Trading Post is a quirky New Hampshire tradition that we love. Learn more here.

  1. Hampton Beach, Hampton

TripAdvisor/Sarsita2209 Yes, it’s full of people, and yes, a lot of them are tourists - but chances are that if you grew up here your parents packed you up in the car, slathered some sunscreen on you, and sent you out to run around on this beach more than once - it’s a classic for a reason!
